Sharpening a kukri knife?

I’m new to sharpening knives. All I know is I’m buying a Kukri knife tomorrow, and I need a simple "beginner’s guide" if you will to sharpening knives. I wanna get a pretty fine edge on it(high sharpness)

All I have right now is a "Hard Arkansas Stone." I know I’ll need lubrication oil for it as well, but I’m concerned about technique. What exactly do I need to do to sharpen the knife accurately and correctly? Thanks in advance.

Don’t buy a Kukri knife unless you have a religious need for one, they are not easy to sharpen because of the odd angled blade and serve no good purpose in camping they are to big and heavy. And when you need a multiple of other tools as well not a good choice for the backpacker. Go with a multi tool and I prefer a leatherman

Try to anchor the stone so it doesn’t move. Apply a little oil on the surface of the stone. Hold knife in one hand with other hand holding tip. Draw across stone as if you were trying to take a thin slice off the top. Flip knife over and repeat in opposite direction. This will get you a good edge.

Buy a large sharpening steel. Hold steel in one hand and knife in other. Start with the low end of the blade at the tip of the steel. Draw the blade towards the steel handle while pulling across. Next pass is under the steel. With this you could shave if your care full.

Don’t buy it its going to last you about five minutes if your lucky it will be a poor quality fake!
Buy a more sensible knife or axe for your needs!

I use a ceramic rod on mine, easier to follow the curve of the blade this way. flat stones are hard to use on a kukri due to it’s inward curve. lube oil? just use water.
