I am getting my boyfriend that is a butcher this but I am clueless about knifes, and sharpeners??

I have a Ka-Bar fighting/utility knife and was wondering which angle to sharpen it at? I have a Lansky turnbox sharpener with pre-set angles of 20 degrees and 25 degrees. What would be the best angle if i wanted a really sharp edge that lasted? The blade will be used for outdoor purposes and other such things.

I cut throughout my grade 8 year, and grade 9 year. Can’t remember if I did in grade 10, but probably just off and on.

I enjoyed the feeling of the pain, the sight of the blood. For a period there I would grow giddy if I saw my exact-o knife. I would giggle and laugh and hug it to me and call it a close friend. I even cut myself with it in the middle of my grade 9 math class to see if it was still sharp. Obviously it got taken away. (I was pretty fucked up, I know. For a while, from grades 5-9 I thought that violence and anger were the way to go. I didn’t want friends again so that when it was time to move, whether it was to another city again or to a different part of town, it wouldn’t hurt.)

Now, I’m 18, and in my victory lap of high school. I’ve graduated (just scraped by), have a group of friends I love dearly. I am very happy, and am perpetually cheerful. The only dark spots for me are the minor bad moods I get into because of something that’ll happen in my day, and the odd pain of being transexual and oddly unattracted to people of either gender when in earlier years I used to have crushes on either gender almost indiscriminately. (Used to think I was pansexual, now not so certain, obviously.)

But the odd thing is, as the year progresses, I’ve been getting the weirdest temptation to cut myself again. Haven’t for, oh…. If we only count the beginning of grade 10… About 2-3 years now. (After a while I just quit, cold turkey) There are plenty of excuses not to: my sharpener is too far away, I handle food daily, I have small hands and the caf’s gloves don’t fit me, my friends would be slightly weirded out, my best friend would be disappointed, I’m not unhappy enough to do it. But as I write this, the slight urge to cross my room and give myself a test cut is resounding in my mind.

Thought I was over this, wtf? :/

I was wondering what the best options were for a pocket knife sharpener. I bought that gerber sharpener thing but it seems to dull the knife more that sharpen it.
